CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — H-E-B delivered hundreds of meals to local healthcare workers on Friday. The donation was part of the grocery chain's Texas Helping Texans initiative.
The grocery chain delivered 600 "Meal Simple" meals to employees at CHRISTUS Spohn South Hospital on Saratoga as a thank you for their hard work during the COVID-19 health crisis. This was the second week that the healthcare workers were treated to a free meal by H-E-B. Employees at CHRISTUS Spohn-Kleberg and Citizens Medical Center in Victoria also received the chef-inspired entrées. H-E-B says it is delivering 75,000 of the meals to hospitals across Texas.
Through a press release, H-E-B says its already made an initial $3 million commitment to help local nonprofits that provide relief to seniors, low-income and children. As part of this charitable investment, H-E-B has donated more than $1.2 million and nearly 40 truckloads of food and household supplies to food banks, which will provide more than 6.5 million meals for Texans in need.
