CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — While many of us are stuck at home during this time, we may find ourselves a little lonely. But, Corpus Christi Animal Care Services want to help you find a companion.

Due to COVID-19, CCACS has changed its adoption protocol.

Here's what you need to do to get a new furry family member.

First, check out their website and social media to find the pet you'd like to meet.
Then, email ccacsrescues@cctexas.com or call 361-826-4606, to make an appointment.

CCACS Operations Manager Joel Skidmore says each meet and greet with take about 30 minutes. They have extended their hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Skidmore says right now they are focused on clearing out the shelter, which means he wants the public to refrain from bringing in any stray animals at this time, unless there is an animal emergency.

If adoption is a bit much to handle at this time, CCACS have just kicked off their Foster Program.

The process is simple, you open your warm home to a shelter animal as CCACS works to get them adopted. You take care of that animal as if it were your own.

Skimore says they will set up any foster for success, if you need certain materials or equipment, they can help provide what you need.

To learn more about how fostering can work for you, you can email ccacsrescues@cctexas.com or call 361-826-4606.
