The U.S. Census Bureau announced Tuesday it will be suspending field operations until June.
The official count began nationally April 1, but the bureau announced in March that it would be postponing door-to-door counts because of the COVID-19 beginning to spread across the nation.
"In-person activities, including enumeration, office work and processing activities, will incorporate the most current guidance from authorities to ensure the health and safety of staff and the public," when field offices re-open, the statement reads.
Residents can be counted online here or by phone at 1-844-330-2020 until Aug. 14.
The census bureau said as of Tuesday, Coastal Bend counties have a self-response rate of fewer than 40 percent.
