Williams had been in law enforcement for 35 years and was assigned to the district's Directed Patrol Division.
He received a heartfelt tribute from Judge Missy Medary on Facebook.
Among those who remembered Williams today was Corpus Christi Police Chief Mike Markle, who remembered an officer who leaves a strong legacy.
"Chuck was raised here," Markle said. "He knows the neighborhoods. he knows people personally. and he went to great lengths to make sure he served this public as he should as a public servent. So we are going to miss Chuck greatly."
Besides his police career, Williams also served as a coach and referee for many youth sports in the area.
His family says they are delaying an official service until next year because of the concerns about gathering a large group during the pandemic.
