CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Independent School District have eased their policy for "to-go" meals. The school district will no longer require students to be in the vehicle when a parent or guardian picks up breakfast and lunch packages.
The curbside meal-pickup program is available each weekday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drivers are asked to place one of the following on the dashboard against the closed window:
Letter/email/electronic application from any school that lists each child enrolled
Individual student report cards
Attendance record from school website’s portal that includes each child’s name
Birth certificate(s)
Student ID card(s)
The curbside meal pickup program began the week students were to return from Spring Break. With schools forced to remain closed due to the COVID-19 crisis, administrators feared students who typically only get to eat at school would go without eating a healthy meal for weeks. The school district initiated the program at a few schools eventually expanding it to all of the high schools and several elementary schools.
