CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Navy and Air Force flight demonstration squadrons will not be bringing their "Operation America Strong" tour to the Coastal Bend.
Both Corpus Christi and Kingsville were originally scheduled stops on the Blue Angels and Thunderbird's flight path, however they have been canceled in order to visit harder hit regions across the country.
They are still planning to fly over San Antonio within the next two weeks.
The "Operation America Strong" tour is a salute in the sky to individuals working on the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19.
The demonstration is also a "show of national solidarity" for all Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Department of Defense.
“This is also our way of showing that we are all in this together and that America’s spirit will prevail," said General Dave Goldfein, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and Admiral Michael Gilday, Chief of Naval Operations, in a joint statement.
Their next stops will be in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta this weekend.
