KINGSVILLE, Texas — The pandemic has caused the nation to change the way we celebrate annual events.

In Kingsville today, the annual Breast Cancer Awareness 5K was changed into a parade and scavenger hunt.

Students, faculty, and staff at Texas A&M-Kingsville joined people for a drive through campus to help raise money for breast cancer awareness.

"It can be transmitted by family, it can be genetic," said TAMUK health and wellness student Gina Merzbacher. "So knowing your family background and going and getting tested and regularly knowing that you need to have this awareness is very good, so you can catch it early."

Prizes were provided for parade vehicle decorations and the top points earner in the scavenger hunt.

This is the 20th year students have staged this event.
