CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Independent School District confirmed 20 new positive cases among district staff.
The cases were confirmed with the district between Thursday, July 23, and Friday, Aug. 7. It was announced via press release Friday.
The district says that officials immediately notified people who were possibly exposed to the infected employees.
District properties remain closed to the public and staff are still required to wear masks on these properties.
The identities of the employees will not be released due to privacy laws.
The new school year is still slated to begin remotely on Aug. 13 and in-person classes on Sept. 7.
CCISD representatives asks the public to follow the CDC's safety guidelines, including wearing face coverings, frequent handwashing, and observing social distancing.
