CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A local Girl Scout member is doing her best when it comes to making sure animals have a safe forever home and become adopted.

This is also a part of her duty to receive her silver award with the scouts.

12-year-old Jaylynn Alvarado is no stranger when it comes to rescuing animals.

The seventh-year Girl Scout is preparing to receive her silver award which is one of the highest awards for a scout.

However, in order to receive the award, she must get involved with a cause that will have long-last effects on her community.

Alvarado chose to partner with FurEver United animal rescue group to help with animal shelter transports.

She shared her story with many members of the community and one couple called the rescue group and said they wanted to help.

They decided to donate $2,000 to the animal group.

“Well, animals they’re not as fortunate as most people, so with all the animals I like to just help out as best as I can,” says Alvarado.
