ORANGE GROVE, Texas — The coronavirus pandemic has brought many changes for area high school seniors.

Orange Grove Independent School District decided to host a special event, before the school year came to an end.

One by one seniors from Orange Grove high were able to walk through their hallways one last time.

OGISD says COVID-19 has brought many adjustments for their seniors, which is where the idea for a walk to remember developed.

“And so with it being out there, nationwide we knew it was the right thing to do because we didn't know initially could we hold a ceremony or not,” says Orange Grove ISD Superintendent Dr. Randy Hoyer.

Senior Gabriel Aguilar says the 2020 senior walk will be something he can always cherish especially during this time of uncertainty.

Aguilar says the best thing for him to do was to stay positive and to finish the school year strong.

“I've been trying to make the best of everything looking on the bright side,” says Aguilar.

Senior Alexandria Cantu has also worked hard graduating at number three in her senior class.

Cantu says she has learned so much at her years at Orange Grove and will take this knowledge to college.

“We didn't know that we wouldn't see each other again, so it's good to see all of our teachers one last time I think because of that it's very special,” says Cantu.

Graduation for Orange Grove High School is set for June 6th, 2020.
