CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — City leaders look to finally get their piece of the lucrative short-term rental industry.

Next Tuesday, the city council votes on whether or not to collect hotel occupancy taxes from travel sites Airbnb and Home Away.

Those sites already collect a six percent state tax. Now they'll collect a nine percent city tax.

City staff estimates that over a two year period, the city missed out on almost 1.6 million dollars in revenue.
