CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Traffic has been restored on the Harbor Bridge after it was closed for about two hours Tuesday afternoon after a man climbed to its top and threatened to jump.

The man was talked down from the bridge about 1:30 p.m. after originally climbing aboard the facility shortly before noon. Traffic was reopened shortly before 2 p.m.

Corpus Christi police said the man will not face any charges. He was taken to the hospital for treatment after the incident.

Police blocked off the inside and middle lanes of the bridge about 12 p.m., heading to North Beach and Portland.

But after a few minutes, police had to close the remaining northbound lane and all lanes on the other side of the bridge heading into Corpus Christi, a police tweet stated.

Officers from the department's Hostage and Negotiation Team arrived to try to get the man to surrender before jumping.

Police told the public to avoid the area after it started.
