Former educator Gloria Scott sees Black History Month as an opportunity to honor the African-American communities of the past for the progress the country enjoys today.
"To me it means the positive anchoring of this, again, of people getting educated about it and celebrate it, of what the fabric of this country was knitted upon and those of blacks in this country, and how we have held it together and are still holding it together in many ways.
