ROCKPORT, Texas — An Aransas County ISD teacher has been arrested on charges related to child pornography.
Mark Malone, 43, has been employed by the district since August 2019 as the girls coordinator, head basketball coach and truancy officer for the district.
Malone was immediately placed on administrative leave by the district after he was booked this morning. He remains in Aransas County Jail in Rockport.
"Our most important concern is the safety of our students," Aransas County ISD Superintendent Joey Patek said.
District officials said the Attorney General's office contacted the district's office saying they served a search warrant at Malone's home this morning.
He was arrested on two counts of possession of child pornography. Rockport police have not found any evidence that a child from the area was one of Malone's victims.
