CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — November is National Adoption Month. And today, 13 children in Nueces County were officially adopted.
These kids are even more special because they were adopted out of the foster care system.
It happened in Judge Timothy McCoy’s court.
The adoptions happened just in time for these families to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas officially as forever families.
Child Protective Services officials says there is still a large need for families who are willing to adopt.
“We're hoping that when people see the court and they see how happy these families are. The smiles on the faces of the children that they may stop and think ‘Is adoption something for me?'
‘Is adoption or foster care something that our family can do.?" said CPS Media Specialist John Lennan.
Nueces County is hosting its next informational meeting on Dec. 9 at the Department of Family and Protective Services office on Greenwood Drive.
It's for anyone interested in either becoming a foster or adoptive parent.
