CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Another spot is now open on the Port Commission.

Dick Bowers submitted his resignation to County Judge Barbara Canales on Tuesday.

Bowers says he is making his decision in order to be closer to his wife.

Bowers served for the port for 12 years.

This is the second seat that has become vacant in the last few months.

Following a KRIS 6 Investigates report, Wayne Squires resigned from the Port Commission after it was determined he did not have a college degree from Penn State as he claimed in his resume and on the Port's website.

Last week, the city council voted former banker Al Jones to fill that vacant seat.

Judge Barbara Canales' sister, Patricia Canales Bell, received the second most votes for that spot.

Now it will be up to the county commissioners and county judge to fill that newly vacated seat.
