It’s been more than a year since construction began at a site once known as Tortuga Dunes.
Not much is known about what it’s supposed to be…until now.
It’s going to be a new hotel development called Lively Beach.
The first phase of construction includes two buildings with 23 units each.
They won’t be facing the water.
Instead, the units will face State Highway 361 with birding facilities and nature views between the hotel and the highway.
“We get an awful lot of people that come in for strictly birding purposes. And that’s an attraction for this destination as well,” said Mark Johnstone, owner of Sanborn’s Travel Service.
The next proposed phase of construction will include another 20-unit building.
