Border security has been a hot issue and it is back in the spotlight today.

A delegation of members of Congress, including our representative Michael Cloud, is on a two-day tour of the border region.

Their trip began today at the new Border Patrol checkpoint station in Falfurrias where congressmen from not only Texas but from all over the country are getting a private look at operations here.

This new facility opened on May 1 with eight traffic lanes, seven of them are functional and one is still under construction.

Later today on KRIS 6 News, we’ll provide a behind the scenes look at day-to-day operations here and how Border Patrol agents are working to combat crime along the main corridors throughout the state.

Our coverage on the congressional delegation’s visit to the border will also continue tomorrow.
