The 86th Texas Legislature has come to an end up in Austin, with lawmaking including the state budget to health care and education policy.

The legislature ran from Jan. 8 to May 27 and Monday, Gov. Greg Abbott announced there will be no special session in July.

The 140-day session came to a close Monday after breakthroughs on two big issues that have been longtime concerns of taxpayers – school finance and property taxes

But there were other ups and downs, including the passage of several bills that will directly affect us here locally during the session.

We’ll have more on those later today on KRIS 6 News.
