Three Coastal Bend teams remain alive in the state playoffs. Two baseball teams are in the Region IV finals and Calallen makes its first trip to state in the school’s softball history.
It’s an exciting time for the Lady Cats, who finished second in District 29-5A before their playoff surge.
They have fought through the playoffs and now are only two victories away from winning the Class 5A state title.
They will be tested the Colony Cougars, who enter Friday’s game at 39-2 with a 27-game winning streak.
The Cougars are ranked No. 4 in the state and No. 32 nationally.
The game will be played at 9 a.m. Friday at the Red and Charlene McCombs Softball Field on the University of Texas campus in Austin.
