Avoid White Spot Syndrome by using shrimp bait native to the gulf

If you’re planning on doing some fishing this Memorial Day weekend, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department says to make sure you use the proper bait.

Shrimp is standard bait for many anglers but the state’s Parks and Wildlife Department says stick to shrimp native to the Gulf of Mexico.

Imported shrimp may carry a virus that can kill our sea life like crab and other fish.

That virus causes something called white spot syndrome.
