A woman accused in a fatal hit and run automobile accident in 2014 in North Beach has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
Tammy Shobar, 57, appeared before Judge Missy Medary today.
Medary had some strong words today for a woman accused in the fatal hit and run and who was a no-show for a hearing last week.
“It’s not our responsibility to Google you to find you to do a Yellow Page search,” Medary said. “It’s your responsibility to let us know if your address changes.”
Back in 2014, police said she a woman was driving on Highway 181 near North Beach when she hit and killed a 42-year-old man and then took off.
She was arrested hours later.
Judge Medary took Shobar to task for arguing with the court coordinator about skipping last week’s hearing.
“What I’m gonna do is because of your behavior, I’m going to sanction you to a Nueces County Jail for three days because of your behavior with Mr. Garcia,” Medary said.
Shobar explained her absence was because she had moved away from the Coastal Bend.
“I moved to Bandera five years ago, my address is on my drivers’ license, so there shouldn’t be any problem in finding me,” Shobar told the judge. “I’m not trying to hide from anybody.”
Shobar’s trial date has been set for Sept. 23.
