There’s a new ‘modern’ way to taco on Tuesdays, and it starts at The Taco Shop.
The Taco Shop at 4418 Prescott St. has only been around for 7 months but the owner knows the area pretty well.
Rodney Livas, owner and chef at The Taco Shop, says his grandfather used to own the same building. It was once known as Prescott Bakery then, Amanda’s Bakery.
Livas says he always wanted his own restaurant but didn’t know what he wanted to do. After living across the country and spending a few years in Miami, Livas knew it was time to come home.
With some vibes still flowing from Miami, he knew he wanted to do a different spin on street tacos.
At The Taco Shop, you can expect the typical breakfast tacos that you can find anywhere in South Texas. But the specialty Modern Street Tacos are what you go for.
His Vacca Fritta is his own personal spin on a breakfast barbacoa taco. And with his popular Pork Carnitas taco, Livas makes all of the meats and salsas in house.
Livas says for his future, he has purchased a food truck and hopes to share some more modern street tacos throughout Corpus Christi.
