Progress is being made to the Island’s newest grocery store.

We’re talking about the IGA, located on Park Road 22 just after Whitecap Boulevard.

According to the developers of the new grocery store, Lori and Mohsin Rasheed, the underground utilities construction is expected to begin next month.

The project has been in the works for two years and has dealt with permitting issues in the process.

The developers say construction could take another year.

And meanwhile, just up the road, the Rasheeds have another project in the works.

This one is expected to open in a few weeks.

We’re told they recently purchased the old Country Store building and plan on turning it into a bar and grill restaurant.

They have not decided on a name for the new venture, but expect it to open in August.
