As we’ve reported, the mosquito population is climbing.
But how bad is it?
We talked with Vector Control officials as they checked on those numbers.
This morning we followed a city vector control crew as they hit some highly populated areas with mosquitoes.
To control their numbers, Vector Control first has to get an idea of how many there are.
Workers put out mosquito traps last week and today they picked up samples from 28 of them.
Those traps caught 53 different kinds of mosquitoes here in the Coastal Bend.
They also focus on mosquitoes carrying viruses that can affect humans.
Coming up later today, we’ll look into Vector Control’s mission to protect us from potentially deadly diseases.
