What makes the Coastal Bend so unique?

Well first, the Coastal Bend is home to some of the best saltwater fish you can eat. Imagine getting the perfect catch and cooking it for lunch or dinner, in just a matter of hours!

That’s what KRIS 6 Reporter Chelsea Torres got to do this week. She went out with Joey Farah, Corpus Christi native with his own fishing guide service, Joey Farah’s Backwater Fishing Adventures.

Farah took Chelsea out on Laguna Madre searching for the perfect bay fish for a tasty meal. Farah talks about some of the best spots to find speckled trout and even redfish.

Today, the catch was a speck and a gafftop! Gafftopsail Catfish are known as a “trash fish”, but surprisingly enough, they make for some good eating!

Chelsea Torres helped catch this fish and then had the pleasure of eating this exquisite piece of fish. (KRIS file photo)

If you’re ever in the Laguna Madre area, head over to Marker 37. There you’ll find the perfect spot for bait, tackle, fish cleaning and a place that can cook your own catch.

At Marker 37, is the new food truck, Fishtales Bar & Grill. This is where 5-star chef, Jeff Rosenhoover can cook up some of the best cuisine you’ve ever had in your life…seriously.

Rosenhoover took the two fish and cooked them up so perfectly, you would have thought you were in a top restaurant.

Now, this can only happen in the Coastal Bend!
