City crews are taking steps to minimize the risk of street flooding with the approaching predicted heavy rainstorm.

Storm division workers are looking for storm drains that may be blocked by trash or construction debris.

They’ll focus on flood-prone areas like Flour Bluff and Calallen.

Vehicles that can drive through high water are being prepared in case they are needed for high-water rescues.

Cones, barricades and other traffic control devices are ready to go.

And all water crews have been placed on stand-by in case the city activates its emergency operations center in the coming days.
