Area shelters are getting ready to provide our homeless population shelter from the storm.

The Salvation Army expects to see an increase in people needing a place to stay starting tonight.

They’re getting ready with extra cots and mats.

The commander of the Salvation Army here says there should be plenty of room.

Area shelters are getting ready to provide our homeless population shelter from the storm.

“Anywhere from 160 to 178 people will probably be in our buildings tonight,” said Capt. Patrick Gesner of the Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend. “We’ve made sure that we  have plenty  of water and food stored up just in case there’s any loss of power or any of that.”

The Salvation Army is also in contact with the City’s Emergency Operations Center in case any other needs arise.
