Weather playing havoc with life across the Coastal Bend

This morning’s storms are affecting everyday life in the Coastal Bend.

Several flights have been delayed at Corpus Christi International Airport.

INCOMING FLIGHTS:

– Southwest Airlines flight 1 from Houston-Hobby to CCIA: canceled

– American Airlines flight 3006 from Dallas-DFW to CCIA: delayed

OUTGOING FLIGHTS:

– American Airlines flight 4105 from CCIA to Dallas-DFW: delayed

– United Airlines flight 4070 from CCIA to Houston-Intercontinental: canceled

– Southwest Airlines flight 24 from CCIA to Houston-Hobby: canceled

The Corpus Christi Rapid Transit Authority is monitoring the current weather conditions. All services may be delayed or interrupted temporarily due to inclement weather.

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi issued a “code blue” to students and staff, warning them of the impending thunderstorm watch.

“Campus remains open,” the alert read. “Please use caution when traveling to campus.

“Students should contact faculty immediately if unable to make it to campus safely today. Faculty and staff, if you are unable to make it to campus, please connect with your supervisor for additional instructions.”

Routes 76 and 78 along the Joe Fulton corridor currently are experience delays.

The Duval County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality 4 miles west of Freer along State Highway 59. The crash apparently was is weather-related.

There were also reports of transformers on fire, power lines and power poles down in Benavides.

High winds and heavy rain also were reported.

Several trees are down near San Diego.

Some local baseball and softball games scheduled for tonight could be affected. Forecasters expect the next heavy storm could be blowing through Corpus Christi early this evening.
