For the first time in school history, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s women’s basketball team has been selected to play in next season’s WNIT.
The Islanders will be among 16 teams taking part in the tournament.
First-round matchups and the bracket will be announced later this spring.
It’s a big deal for the team.
The Islanders finished the past season with a flourish with a 17-16 record. They advanced to the finals of the Southland Conference tournament before a 69-68 loss to Abilene Christian in the finals. just missing out on a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
