Multiple agencies are assisting in the recovery of a vehicle and its driver, after it plunged into the water off the Port Aransas Ferry landing.

The incident started Tuesday night just after 10 PM when someone called the Port Aransas Police Department to report a suspicious vehicle behind their home on N. Alister Street.

An officer attempted to pull the male driver over, but he drove away, almost hitting the officer in the process.

Officers followed the fleeing vehicle. When the vehicle got to the Port Aransas ferry landing, it made several circles in the loop and struck several concrete structures.

The truck struck a barrier arm on one of the landings before driving off the landing into the water.

None of the officers saw anyone come out of the vehicle.

The Coast Guard, the Aransas Pass police department’s dive team and Corpus Christi Police Department are all  assisting in the recovery of the vehicle and its driver.

Video circulating on social media shows the moment the vehicle plunges into the water.

There is no word on the driver’s condition, and his identity has not yet been released to the public.

This is a developing story. Stay with KRIS 6 News for updates.
