CCPD: Woman threatens to stab paramedics with medical shears

Corpus Christi police say a woman is facing aggravated assault charges after she grabbed medical shears and threatened to stab and kill two paramedics.

According to a police report, medics were dispatched to diagnose a female who might have needed medical attention. When they arrived, they found a female and took her inside an ambulance.

While medics were getting ready to transport the woman, police say she grabbed a pair of medical shears and threatened to stab and kill an EMS worker. The ambulance driver heard the commotion and pulled over. He opened the back of the ambulance. Then, police say the woman told the ambulance driver she was going to stab and kill him as well.

Police arrived at the scene moments later. Officers said EMS workers took the medical shears from the woman and pinned her down until police arrived.

According to police, 27-year-old Darlene Knutson was charged with one count of aggravated assault against a public servant.

The incident happened at 12:15 p.m. Saturday in the 4200 block of Ayers Street.

No first responders were injured during the incident.
