Bulldozers were being used to fight crime in one Flour Bluff neighborhood this morning.
That sound is music to the ears of residents on the 1400 block of O’Neill Street.
They’ve been complaining about a vacant house there for years.
Today, Code Enforcement brought in a crew to tear down that eyesore.
The demolition is being paid for with funds from community development block grants.
“So this week is National Community Development Week, so this fell right in there, within the parameters of that,” said Rudy Bentancourt, the city’s director of housing and community development.
Some of the neighborhood residents who’ve been pushing the city to do something about this house watched it being torn down.
They feel this will increase safety within the neighborhood.
