Islanders women fall to Sam Houston State in Southland Conference tennis tournament

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders are hosting the Southland Conference tennis championships this weekend. Action began today at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.

Today was the day for women’s competition.

The Islanders’ women are the No. 5 seed. They are in the blue, taking on the No. 4 seed Sam Houston State. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is the three-time defending conference champs.

In doubles action, you are watching the Isles’ No. 1 duo of Camille Townsend and Mariya Shumeika.

The Islanders’ duo played really well and won their super set. But in the end, the Bearkats won the match, 4-2.

Still, the Islanders men will play at 10 a.m. Friday morning.
