Seven days earlier, a proposed District of Innovation calendar was defeated for the second straight year.
So what is a District of Innovation?
Simply put, being a District of Innovation means a district can start school earlier than the fourth week in August, allowing teachers professional development days during the school year.
But there are other provisions which made opponents nervous.
