At City Hall today, a long-time city and county leader was remembered.

Mayor Joe McComb read a resolution today honoring the late David Noyola for the impact he made to our community.

Noyola, a former council member and Nueces County Commissioner, passed away in February at the age of 61.

During his career serving the community, he was the city councilman for District 3, where he lived most of his life. In the early 1990s, he also served as a Nueces County Commissioner.

“David was the type of person if you got to meet him you would never forget him,” his brother Danny Noyola said. “He would always do things his way, and sometimes they were not maybe as politically correct as some people may have thought.

“But he always represented the people that he loved the most, the community that he loved the most, the westside.”

David Noyola also played an instrumental role in getting Laguna Park renamed Molina Veterans Park.
