A man is in the hospital after being shot by a Portland police officer Thursday night, Portland officials said.
Just before 6 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Memorial Parkway to investigate a call of a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, they were charged at by a man brandishing two knives, Portland officials said. He was shot by one of the responding officers.
Officers found a woman at the scene who had been injured prior to their arrival. The extent of her injuries are unknown.
The officer has been placed on administrative leave, per department policy, a news release said.
More information is expected to be released today.
