Port Aransas lodging businesses brace for Spring Break influx

The City of Port Aransas thrives on tourism. Local business owners and hotel managers are bracing for a large influx of visitors for Spring Break 2019.

Staff with the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce says occupancy has increased drastically after Hurricane Harvey.

“All of our hotel properties cottages are what we call hotel condos and our traditional hotel/motels have all opened, that has just been the greatest news to all of us this year,” says Jeffrey Hentz, president/CEO of the Port Aransas Tourism Bureau & Chamber of Commerce & Foundation.

“We’re looking for this season to be one of the best seasons we ever had,” says general manager Celeste Edwards.

For some vacation spots like Old Town Cottages, this will be their first Spring Break.

Business owner of Old Town Cottages Shana Heard says her business prepared was by making sure landscaping was presentable and  rooms were readu for guests.

“It’s going to be really exciting,” Heard says.
