The Miller Bucs aren’t ready to see their season finish yet.

The Bucs charged to a 69-67 victory over San Antonio Sam Houston Friday night in the Region IV-Class 5A playoffs at Littleton Gymnasium in San Antonio.

The victory wasn’t assured until  Zamori Nickles made a late steal in the lane with .3 seconds left to deny Sam Houston a final shot at the victory.

Miller had a 67-57 lead with 2:05 left. But a barrage of clutch 3-pointers brought the Hurricanes back.

The victory boosts the Bucs (30-10) into the regional finals Saturday afternoon against the winner of the  San Antonio Wagner (30-5)-Laredo Martin (30-9) game.

Tipoff for the Elite Eight, also in San Antonio, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Hurricanes grabbed a 50-49 lead late in the third quarter, but Miller responded with the final four points to claim a 53-50 advantage at the third quarter break.

Miller scored the last six points of the first half to claim a 41-36 halftime lead. The Bucs led 20-17 after one quarter, overcoming a frigid early start to stake an early 12-4 lead.

Sam Houston finishes the season at 25-9.
