Volunteers from all ages partnered with Heart Your Park putting extra elbow grease setting major upgrades to the Hans & Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge.

The team worked hard in helping give this local park a facelift by picking up trash and clearing out old trees and branches.

“We want the community to know that they have access to green space it’s good for you,” Sara Jose said. “It makes you feel good and so it’s nice and rewarding to see our community so engaged and willing to help us out with some of these bigger projects.”

Members from Heart Your Park say about 25 new trees will be placed into the park. These new trees will help give birds and other wildlife a space for food and habitat.

Volunteers say they were proud to be a part of this clean-up and to make a positive impact for the future of the Hans & Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge.

The next Heart Your Park event will take place March 9 at the Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve.
