A 32-year-old Corpus Christi man remains in jail under bonds totaling $137,000 after he allegedly stole a police vehicle that was involved in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday at Port Street and Morgan Avenue that sent five people to the hospital.
Alonso Sandoval has been charged with aggravated assault on a public servant, unauthorized use of a vehicle, evading arrest with a vehicle, evading arrest, escape while arrested and an accident involving injury, Nueces County jail officials said.
Sandoval had a warrant for his arrest at the time of his arrest dating back for a theft in 2017.
His case has been assigned to 94th District Court with Judge Bobby Galvan.
