After trailing most of the game, Miller surged back for a 60-56 victory over Ray in a key District 30-5A showdown Friday night.
The Bucs finished on an 8-1 run to claim the triumph, pushing them to 13-1 in district for the season. Ray drops to 12-1 in district play with the loss.
Ray led for most of the first half and pushed its lead to the largest of the game on Ryan Nurenberg’s 3-pointer with 1:57 left in the third quarter. But the Bucs closed on an 8-2 run to finish the quarter capped by a three-point play by Xavier Watson to finish the quarter.
Watson’s three with 6:30 left gave the Bucs their first lead of the game. Ray came back to reclaim the lead at 53-52 2on two foul shots by Nurenberg with 2:35 left.
Miller reclaimed the lead for good on a tip-in by Marcos Guzman at 56-55 with 43.73 seconds left.
Tough Miller defense limited Ray to two field goals in the fourth quarter.
