Incarnate Word Academy held its final round of the Amazing Shake Competition.
Students who participated learned about etiquette, discipline, self-confidence and the art of a good handshake.
The competition was created to teach students skills they’ll need in their professional and social lives.
And for students who took part, it was a real-world learning experience.
“I was a shy, short kid who no one took personally and no one really took me seriously,” said IWA seventh-grader Annabelle Clark. “But since this competition, everyone’s rooting for me cause I’m in the finals. I’m just really happy to be part of this program.”
Three Incarnate Word students will advance to the national competition Feb. 9 in Atlanta.
