Corpus Christi police say the passenger of a  car is dead, and a child is in critical condition, following a head-on crash.

The incident happened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Staples Street and Baldwin Boulevard.

Police say a truck collided with a car, carrying two adults and two children.

Medics tended to the driver and passenger of the car and the two children at the scene. The driver, a passenger, and the two children were transported to the hospital.

The driver of the red car was later pronounced dead.

One of the children was transported in critical condition. Police say the passenger and the other child were listed in stable condition.

Police are still at the scene and are blocking off certain areas around the crash scene as they continue their investigation.

Investigators added the driver of the truck will be cited for causing the crash.
