Chicago Bears kicker Cody Parkey isn’t letting his missed field goal that cost his team a playoff game ruin his life.
Parkey appeared on NBC’s “Today” show this morning to talk about the partially-blocked 43-yarder with 10 seconds left in the Bears’ 16-15 loss to Philadelphia on Sunday.
“I didn’t know it was tipped or anything,” Parkey said in an interview on the TODAYshow Friday. “I saw it hit the upright and the crossbar and said, ‘Surely it will go in.’ Unfortunately, it bounced towards me.
“I’m disappointed that I let the fans, my teammates and the whole organization down. I’ll continue to keep my head held high because football is what I do, it’s not who I am.”
Parkey said he’s stayed off social media since the missed kick.

And considering tweets like the one below, it’s probably a wise decision.
i hope cody parkey is in debt the rest of his life, his wife cheats on him tremendously, his kids turn out not to be his, and he develops Lou Gehrig’s disease over his throbbing leg arthritis

If it’s any consolation, Parkey reportedly has signed a four-year, $15 million contract with the Bears with $9 million guaranteed.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Bears owe Parkey $3.5 million for 2019, whether he makes their roster or not.
And most NFL fans will be rooting for him to have a comeback after the stand-up way he has handled the miss.
