WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump welcomed 2019 with an all-caps tweet that wished “everyone” a Happy New Year — “including the haters and the fake news media.”
The president also predicted that 2019 would be a “fantastic” year for anyone “not suffering from Trump derangement syndrome” — which he has ascribed to his critics in the past.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE, INCLUDING THE HATERS AND THE FAKE NEWS MEDIA! 2019 WILL BE A FANTASTIC YEAR FOR THOSE NOT SUFFERING FROM TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME. JUST CALM DOWN AND ENJOY THE RIDE, GREAT THINGS ARE HAPPENING FOR OUR COUNTRY!

Trump’s New Year’s message was eerily similar to his tweet at the end of 2016, in which he wished a happy New Year “to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don’t know what to do.”
Happy New Year to all, including to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don't know what to do. Love!

Two years earlier, Trump extended New Year greetings to “all haters and losers.”
Trump originally had planned to spend the holidays at his private Mar-a -Lago resort in Florida. That trip was scuttled after the partial government shutdown began on Dec. 22.
House Democrats released a plan on Monday that would re-open the federal government, but their proposal did not include funding for a border wall with Mexico that the president has demanded.
The Senate’s Republican leadership said on Monday that the Senate “is not going to send something to the president that he won’t sign.”
Later, Trump also sent out a more direct New Year’s greeting on Twitter.
Happy New Year!
