Several local business owners are making sure Christmas will be a good one for the less fortunate.

Today, they held their 3rd annual “A Most Wonderful Gift for Kids” event at Recio’s Smokehouse and Catering at 5526 Old Brownsville Road.

Santa kicked off the festivities when he arrived on a horse.

The kids received a gift, a goodie bag and took pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Organizers also raffled several bicycles.

The event coordinator Zarron Gonzalez said today’s event was made possible by several small business owners.

“They’re all donations. We don’t keep a penny of it. People come out and donate their time and give back in general to the Coastal Bend and surrounding areas,” Gonzalez said, “It’s priceless to see the response on some of these kids faces when they’re just so appreciative of just getting something for Christmas. It could be not even the most extravagant gift but it’s yet something they get today from Santa and take home for the holiday season.”

Zarron Gonzalez organized this year’s event.

Gonzalez is already planning next year’s event and is inviting other business owners to help. If you’d like to help,  contact Gonzalez at 361-774-0352 or send an email to him at Mysticent1234@yahoo.com
