Corpus Christi Animal Care Services is caring for several animals that were seized from a home last week.

41 cats, 4 dogs and an opossum were taken from a home on Waco Street on Dec. 13 after several neighbors complained. City ordinance states that residents may only have a maximum of six pets in a home.

A few of the dogs are being treated for mange, according to Public Information Officer Mike Pena with the Corpus Christi Police Department. None of the animals have died or have been euthanized, Pena said.

All of the animals are undergoing tests to see if they need treatment for any other diseases.

The investigation is still open and the owners may face charges of animal cruelty.
