Corpus Christi Independent School District is disposing of some of its breakfast cereal after bugs were found in some of its cereal containers.

This morning, a Carroll High School student sent KRIS 6 News video taken inside the school’s cafeteria. In it, a student opens a container of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios and some bugs, which appear to be gnats, begin coming out of the container.

CCISD Communications Director Leanne Libby said the district was aware of that student’s complaint. She also stated the district received a second complaint from King High School student yesterday.

“All campuses have been asked to send inventories of the item in question back to the district. The district is disposing of all containers of this item,”Libby said “CCISD places a priority on safety, including food safety. Students or staff who have concerns about food provided on campus should contact a campus administrator.”
