Schlitterbahn Riverpark and Resort at Corpus Christi have announced the world’s first permanent drive-in/dive-in movie theater will open on Nov. 3.

Park visitors will be able to watch new and classic movies in front of a 60-foot movie screen.

“I am thrilled to bring this exciting level of entertainment to the people of Corpus Christi,” said Jennifer Hoff, Diamond Beach Holdings LLC. “We are implementing a lot of changes but our goal at all times is to serve the needs of the community.”

This is the first stage of the reinvention of the Riverpark as not just a seasonal attraction, but a year-round destination offering entertainment, technology and culinary experiences to the Coastal Bend.

Initial drive-in/dive-in programming will bring Christmas classics to the big screen, including “It’s A Wonderful Life,” “Elf,” “Christmas Vacation,” “Home Alone” and “White Christmas.”  The goal is to make this the start of a Corpus Christi tradition.

Future plans include virtual reality attractions, escape rooms and eSports arenas to the facility. The world’s first lazy river eSports tournament is set for March.

The drive-in/dive-in opens Saturday, November 3rd and a 4-month schedule will be released on October 23. In the spring, movie programming will be presented with water surrounding the screen, allowing guests to “dive in” to the movies.
